Do you remember after that fiasco with The Nice Guy he sent me some Doctor Who items?

One of the things that he sent was this inflatable TARDIS, and I'd shoved it in my hall closet so Charlie wouldn't see it (the Daleks he saw) with the intention of sending it back to him. Naturally, being me, I forgot completely about it until I had to empty my closet today for the plumber and there it was.

So...my question is this...do I want to give it to Charlie for Christmas? Do I want a Giant Inflatable TARDIS in his room, especially as I don't think it is a TARDIS you can use as a wardrobe? Would you want a Giant Inflatable TARDIS?

In related news, I had wanted to get him Doctor Who Uno from Amazon UK but the shipping cost was so high it would've cost me around $60. Ye-ikes. Not worth it, sadly.

Can't tell you how many times a day I make up an LJ entry in my head, but never get the chance to write it down, and then when I am sitting in front of the computer, all the extremely brilliant things I'd thought of before are just gone from my mind.

At any rate, I wanted to get in a quick "Merry Christmas" to all who celebrate it while I was sitting here. It's a warm, rainy day in NJ, so it doesn't feel like Christmas is just around the corner at all, but, round the corner it is, and I hope everyone is ready for it.

I think I am. I'm still waiting for that magical moment where I feel the Christmas spirit upon me but it hasn't happened yet. However, I'm pretty confident Charlie is feeling it, and that is the important thing.

My BFF got us all (and by all, I mean me, Charlie, herself and her kids) tickets to see High School Musical on Ice.

I admit it freely. I'm looking forward to it. I like HSM. It's fun, the music is good, and fun to sing along to, and the message is nice. Charlie is a bit disappointed Ashley Tisdale won't be in it, but he's excited too.

Speaking of girls...we went to the aforementioned BFF's bowling night on Friday, and her daughter was hanging out with a friend, and that friend told my friend's daughter that she thought my Charlie was cute!

It's starting already.

Yikes.

Anyway, I hope you are all enjoying the run-up to the holiday, and I hope your families aren't making you too mad, and I hope that you find a bit of that elusive Christmas Spirit.

Lots of love from me.

Did a thing at "All Fired Up" where Charlie made a plate and two ornamants and got a photo with Santa. The plate featured his handprint super-imposed over Santa's hand, and Charlie's hand was nearly as big as Santa's.

And as you can see from this photo, he is REALLY too big to sit on Santa's lap...

Charlie likes to collect these Ben 10 action figures. Unfortunately, TPTB treat these things more like 'collectables' than 'toys', the difference being, they make it very difficult to find some of these figures, because they stop making them, and release them at different times and so on.

Charlie has most of them, because he is spoiled, but there are two he doesn't have, and of the two the one he really, really wanted was Ghostfreak.

You can't find the bloody thing anywhere - it is never on the shelves in the stores, and the few times I found it on the internet it was out of stock.

Thing is, I've already told him he isn't getting a Wii, and the fact that even Santa can't bring a Wii is probably the first crack in his belief in Santa, so I want to get him at least one thing he is asking for. So, in desperation, I went to E-Bay.

I found it on E-Bay.

I bid on it.

I won.

Well, if spending $15.00, not counting shipping, on a 4 inch plastic figure is winning.

It's worth it, right?

Another holiday come and gone.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I like to donate to charity as a gift for my in-laws, per their request. I am the only one who actually does this, but whatever. This year, I thought it would be fun to donate to a British charity, since they are both Anglophiles as well, so I gave to Danda, a UK organisation that helps people with various disorders, including Autism.

I know it's silly, but I was hoping for a bigger reaction to my gift to my nephews. If you remember, there was that whole nonsense with my sister-in-law, so I wound up buying for the family with five kids. Getting a 'family gift' is nice, but we're talking five teenaged boys ranging from the ages of 13 to 18, the eldest being in college, so it isn't easy to find something they'd like. I knew they had iPods, so I got a $50 iTunes gift card, figuring they each could get 10 songs. I also got this thingy that plugs your iPod into your stereo, so they could all enjoy songs together. I thought it was cool. I guess they liked it, but I suppose they are all too old and cool to give big reactions to things. Whatever.

Charlie, of course, had a great Christmas, although this year I really had to point out to him several times that gifts aren't the point, and he has to learn not to be greedy. He kept asking 'Are there any more presents for me?'. I think he was just feeling a bit overwhelmed by the excitement of it all.

My sister got him a metal detector and first time out we actually found something. Buried under a couple inches of dirt was a Gameboy game that had been missing for ages. And it still works! Now if we can just find that pirate treasure...

This has to be one of my favorite Saturday Night Live skits ever. It's from the early 90's, I remember watching it when I still had the energy to stay up past midnight.

I would love to get this for Charlie's room, but, by the time the currency is converted and it is shipped here, it would be WAY too expensive.

But think about it. His room is decorated a bit like space. What could be more appropriate than a TARDIS in the room?
