In my life...

Now whenever I'm filling up the silence with non-relevant confersation whilst on the elevator, I think of
slammerkinbabe and her on-going attempts to understand small talk. Just thought you'd like to know.
Speaking of Data from Star Trek (which I very subtly was), Charlie sometimes really reminds me of Data. Saturday we went to McDonalds* and on the radio Rick Springfield's song "I've Done Everything for You" was playing, much to my geeky delight. It obviously caught Charlie's ear, because when we were heading back to the car he was singing it, only his lyrics were "I have done everything for you", and this made me giggle.
Speaking of Charlie, we finally cleared out his playroom. It's a small space off our dining room, and over the years it became more of a store room than a play room. So this Sunday we did some serious toy-editing (getting rid of two large storage containers of things he hasn't even looked at in years) and put down a new rug, as the old one was pretty claggy. (*waves to
junediamanti* Look, I'm using a Geordie word in a sentence!)!
So, with the room cleaned out and cleared out, we were able to bring his television and video game things into the playroom from his bedroom, which is a Good Thing for several reasons, not the least of which is now when I send him to get dressed, he will get dressed instead of plopping on the floor to play a game. Ditto for when he gets out of the bath. Many a time I would find him, naked as a jaybird, sitting on his floor playing a game when he should have been putting his jammies on. Also I was able to move his piano into his room from the 'computer' room, so hopefully he will play with that more.
Speaking of cleaning, on Saturday I'd bought the party things for Charlie's upcoming birthday - plates, napkins and so forth with the 'Fantastic Four' theme. At some point in my mad cleaning, I managed to mistake the bag for trash.
Fortunately, my guardian angel noticed and thwaped me on the head, making me think, 'where did I put those things?' and after much frantic searching and multiple digs through the many piles of garbage that was already put out for pick up, I found the bag. Some basic law of the universe made sure that the bag was used for the used, wet coffee grinds, but all the stuff is wrapped in plastic so no harm done.
I'd left the stuff in the kitchen to dry, and Charlie, who knew I was looking for it, came running upstairs to me saying, 'Mommy! Guess what! I found the Fantastic Four stuff! It's in the kitchen!'
He's so helpful.
*Charlie's friend watched that Supersize Me movie, and now thinks that McDonald's will make one throw up automatically, which is funny.
