I've got my fingers crossed

I just got back from auditioning for a play in the local community theatre group. Picasso at the Lapan Agile, by Steve Martin (yes, that Steve Martin.) So now I am in nervous agony hoping and hoping and hoping I got a part.

I know I auditioned well. Totally nailed my Monologue, which worried me, because I really don't do them well during auditions. I shake and tend to blink a lot. But I did it pretty well. They smiled in the right places. It might have helped slightly that the director was male and my monologue was called "Nude Monologue" and I was supposed to be naked. (I wasn't of course, I'm not in good enough shape to be naked in public) but it caught his attention!

The biggest problem is there are only 3 female roles, and two of them are for younger women, and there were 4 women in my age bracket, so I'm really working on talent rather than convenience here, which is scary. When I auditioned for Steel Magnolias in the fall, there were only 2 people auditioning for the younger roles, and I was one of them. But I know I can do this, right? It was my major in college, I was in lots of plays...arugh. I was good in Steel Magnolias. People who weren't my mother told me so, so that's good, right? Right?

I haven't told any friends or family that I auditioned, in case I don't get a part. I'm just telling an unknown number of strangers...odd, that. Anyway, wish me luck. Or break a leg. Or something.

I have to go and psyche myself up for not getting a part, so I won't be too disappointed. Wish me luck with that, too.
