I think one of the really lovely things about Charlie is that people's negative reactions never stop him from doing what he likes to do. If he seems happy playing baseball, and the other kids' comments don't bother him, I wouldn't worry too much about the other kids. Let their rudeness be their parents' look out, not yours.
