Charlie has a girl friend

I am currently at my parent's house. Yesterday, we were talking a walk and bumped into some people my mom knew, and one of them had their granddaughter, Sara, with them. She is Charlie's age - she just turned 9, actually, and she and Charlie chatted for a few minutes; exchanged grandparent addresses, etc.

This morning Sara came over to see if Charlie could play. Unfortunately we had somewhere to go, so he couldn't play long, but he went to her house for a bit.

This evening, as soon as we came home, Charlie went over to see if she could play, but she was eating and couldn't come out 'until 8', which was a weird time, but whatever. Charlie played by himself for a bit, and then asked my mom if he could pick some flowers. Last time we were here he did that and gave them to me, so my mom said okay.

He comes back in, holding the dasies he'd picked, and showed them to me. "Are they for me?" I ask him.

"No," he said. "For Sara."

I had a coupla romances along those lines when I was a kid. Sooo SWEET. I don't think any of the boyfriends of my youth were as cute as Charlie though!
