I don't think I realised how addicted I'd become to LJ until this weekend, when I was unable, due to an ongoing problem with our telephone, to log on. I seriously considered taking my work laptop to a Starbucks or somewhere that had wireless access just so I could go to LJ. And our phone is still broken, so now I am reduced to checking in the odd moments of quiet at work.

Anyway. Joan of Arcadia made me cry like an idiot on Friday. This is a show that manages to base the entire premise around someone talking to God, and yet they manage to keep it free of the general smaltzyness of shows like Touched by an Angel and the like. There'd been episodes where I'd gotten tears in my eyes at the end, but this one I was almost sobbing.

Joan's friend Judith died. I totally didn't see that coming. I figured Judith would be the person Joan would be working to help this season, much like Adam was last year. When they didn't kill Judith off in the episode where she drank too much vodka (or whatever it was) I figured she was safe. But noooooooo. She gets stabbed and later dies in the hospital after making Joan juggle for her. (she was teaching Joan to juggle as a physic's assignment) It was heartrending. It really was. I admit I'm as sentimental as they come, but crikey, this was sad. And Joan and Adam had their first real date to a fancy resturant.

Stupid show, making me cry.

And now....Cute Charlie Photos!

Would be a more cheerful photo if we'd actually won.

Touched by an Angel was always a bit to treacley. They always went for the sentimental ending. Not that I have anything against that, but it was just a bit much for me. I think that's what i like about Joan. Lots more cynical about life than TBAA was!

That being said, I did watch a couple of the shows and they did make me cry.

Oh good.
Not "oh good, you were crying!" Oh good, at least I wasn't the only one.
I was doing fine with the non-crying until Friedman started reciting "doubt truth to be a liar," at which point I just lost it.

Very cute photos. :)

until Friedman started reciting "doubt truth to be a liar," Oh, that just capped it for me. I'm a sucker for Shakespeare anyway, and that was just so heartbreaking. He memorised the whole play for her. sob sob. Good actor, that kid.

And then when she was juggling those balls at the end...I was a mess. Glad I'm not alone! :)

Ooh I lurve Joan! I'm so pleased there's a second series - we've only managed to find the first one over here, even on cable. When I first saw the ads I was almost morbidly interested and promised I'd just watch the first one and when I discovered it was too saccarine for my tastes I'd bugger off. But I lmao at the first ep, and now am hooked!
Yay second serieseseses!

PS Charlie is gorge!

Charlie has a Peanuts shirt! Just when I thought he couldn't get any cuter . . . .

Joan of Arcadia is one of those shows I keep telling myself I should watch. Le sigh.
