Coincidence, the humour of the universe

Yesterday I was having a conversation with a friend about the nature of attractiveness, and I mentioned this guy I was friends with my freshman year in college. He wasn't conventionally handsome by any means, but he was such a nice, funny, smart guy that the more you got to know him, the better looking he seemed to be. He transferred away at some point - we'd drifted apart by then, so I don't actually remember.
This morning I had a facebook request.
From him.
Haven't thought about him in ages and suddenly, less than 24 hours after his name crossed my lips, he finds me on Facebook.
In any decent narrative he'd be single and living near by but, life being what it is, he is married and living in North Carolina.
Still...weird, no?

on 2009-05-04 04:02 pm (UTC)Last night I dreamed about a guy I knew Senior year in college. I just looked him up on Facebook. He doesn't look ANYTHING like he did, not even a little bit. I only know it's him because he's friends with his brother and has his college information on there.

on 2009-05-04 04:28 pm (UTC)I know what you mean. Most people whom I've been attracted too are not really physically attractive in the conventional sense... but once I got to know them, they became attractive to me. It also works the other way. There was a guy who I really liked for a while - I thought he was cute and funny and all of that. He sort of suddenly started acting really creepy and strange and kind of a jerk to me and my friends, and the physical attraction instantly disappeared too. I couldn't believe it was the same person I had known at the beginning of the year.

on 2009-05-07 07:52 am (UTC)It's always weird to meet people you knew 'back then' and discover how they are now - like you, they have completely changed from the image you still have of them from 'back then'
