I spent ages after I rolled my car on the corner of an A Road in Somerset (our roads go M - motorway, A - major road and B - minor road, with numbers after the letters) feeling alternately freaked out and amazed that it wasn't worse - that I hadn't hit anything coming the other way, that I hadn't overly injured myself, that I managed to walk away. It's weird, what the brain does to cope/compensate, isn't it?
