Funny cartoon and this week's Babysitter Rant
This is a silly cartoon, but it made me giggle*, so I figured I'd share.
Last night I had to wait a good 1/2 hour as she had to go to court again, and took the boys - well, not court, a laywer's office or something. Now, when I talked to her when I was on my way back, all she told me was she was in Camden at the courthouse, and was going to be done in about 10 minutes. That is all she said. I have a pretty good memory, I know that is all she said. This is important. So I wait, she calls me when she's on her way back, I pick Charlie up, we say goodbye, and that's it.
This morning she calls
Sitter: I'll pick Charlie up at 12, okay?
Me: Buh?
Sitter: I told you last night I had to go to court in the morning, and I can't take the boys and my husband is taking (her son) but he can't take Charlie and blah blah blah
Me: *brain going into slight panic mode* Um... Okay.
Sitter: *babbles some more about the court*
Me: *Trying to sound kind and not accusatory* You know, you didn't actually tell me this last night
Sitter: Yes I did, I told you when I was at sitting in front of the lawyer I said I had to go back to court. *some more babbling*
Me: No, I'm pretty sure you didn't.
Sitter: Yes I did. Nevertheless I have to go to court I'll pick Charlie up at 12 if you want blah blah blah
Me: *wracking brain to recall last night's conversation* Yeah, that's fine, I can arrange something, but you know, you really didn't tell me
Sitter: Yes I did *something unintellegable* *Hangs up on me*
I hate it...hate it when people hang up one me when there's a dispute. It is such a cop out, and leaves me seething. My husband does it to me, and it drives me crazy. Fucking finish the conversation. Proove me wrong. Don't just bloody hang up on me. Arugh.
And I'm not stupid. I would have registered her saying to me 'I won't be able to watch Charlie in the morning because I have to go to court again.'
I've replayed the entire conversation in my head, and, while she may have said something about going to court again, I know she didn't say the words "Tomorrow", "Morning" or "Can't watch". I know this. But she will insist she did, because she is one of those people who do that - when they know they are wrong they will just push forward with their version of the truth until they've convinced themselves they are right. *coughGeorgeBushcough*
I'm trying to get a hold of my next-door neighbor to see if she can watch him. So we'll see.
Would be nice if it were tomorrow. Then I'd just take a vacation day and be done with it.
Sigh.
