Apparently proof does deny faith

[livejournal.com profile] gehayi posted a thing in her journal about some article about Harry Potter=Satanism. Apparently the article was a parody, but was picked up by this fundamentalist group and taken as, er, gospel, if you'll forgive the pun. Apparently being Born Again also means you don't have to check facts.* Proof denies faith, you know.

Naturally I trolled around that website, and I seriously can't stop laughing. It's addicting, the number of things these people believe to be evil. I'm not quite sure how they even stand to live in this world, since even the most innocuous event is tainted by the devil. These people don't even like Christmas!

That said, they do make a couple of valid points. One: The Ku Klux Klan, White power, White Knights, Aryan nation, Skin heads and any other group who follow after the ideas of Hitler, are demon possessed!!!! (although I personally think that humans don't need any demonic influence to be evil.)

And two: Apparently George and Laura Bush are TEH EBIL! (okay, maybe I don't really agree with that viewpoint, but it is amusing, no?)

So apparently because George Bush doesn't know how to properly sign 'I Love You', he's the devil. It all makes so much sense now.

And of course we all know Rock N Roll is the tool of the devil(TM) but did you know Modern electronic-rock music, inaugurated in the early 1960s, is, and always has been, a joint enterprise of British military intelligence and Satanic cults. On the one side, the Satanists control the major rock groups through drugs, sex, threats of violence, and even murder. On the otherside, publicity, tours, and recordings are financed by record companies connected to British military intelligence circles. Both sides are intimately entwined with the biggest business in the world, the international drug trade.

I am way too amused by this entire site. It has to be a joke. Right?

Oh - in other news, congratulations to my sister Stephanie who just announce she is expecting a baby in November! Hurrah!

ETA: *No offence intended to anyone who is Born Again and is also not an idiot, of whom I'm sure there are many.

When my oldest was in kindergarten, I helped out in class alot. There was a grandma of one of the other students who helped out quite a bit, too. One day when the kids were off at gym class, we were sitting there cutting things out for a project and chatting away. Reading came up & I said how I was reading the HP book to Holly. Said how much we were enjoying it & how much she enjoys reading. The grandma looked appalled. Why, you ask? She launched into this diatribe about how the HP books are evil, that they promote satanism, witchcraft, etc. That I should really rethink exposing my daughter to such bad influences. I replied that it's just a story, and a rather good one, perhaps she should actually read it before she judges it. She just continued to go on and on about it's evilness & how wrong I was. I gave up, just nodded and let it flow right over me - there was no reasoning with her, she was right, I was wrong, the end. Wacko.
