Dear Mercury, God of the Post:

Can you please make my Harry Potter book be at my house today when I get home? I know the lovely people at Amazon.co.uk estimated it getting to my house by Thursday, but I'd really like it to come today. I really want to find out what happened so I can join in all the discussions on LJ. As it is, I've managed to spoil myeself a bit, being unable to resist a couple of posts. So, for example, I know who winds up with whom, romance wise. (and for the record, it was pretty bloody obvious.) I am afraid that by the time I get the book, no one will be talking about it any more.

Please? I'll totally leave an offering at your temple or whatever it is you gods like for people to do. I mean, my sun sign is ruled by your planet and stuff, so I'm all yours, if you could just get me my book. Thanks.

Love,

I'd read it at a bookstore, were I you.

I hope Mercury will answer your plea, but perhaps if your icon weren't AK'ing one of his messengers, he might be more inclined to listen. Maybe the mailperson is scared to come to your house!

But I like your icon, nevertheless.

Stupid computer.

Didn't finish my thought.

Er...good point. How about this icon -

You can talk about it with me, if you have to. Mine only came today. :) and I promise to save some talkings-about for you if you like!

Oh. Goody!

I have read the first few chapters, so I'm not completely behind.

LOL. Give me $20, and I won't tell you how it ends! ;-)

You and [livejournal.com profile] notsosaintly are both far more patient than I am, waiting for your British copies.

Gah! notsosaintly. Should be [livejournal.com profile] notsosaintly!

Hee. Bowie Potter.

Thing is, in 2003 I wasn't on LJ yet, and I had no idea what it would be like to be waiting for the book when everyone else had it. I thought, 'Oh, I can wait an extra week, no big deal.'

It will be worth it, eventually.

Right?

LOL. Live Journal changes everything. Sort of like having a baby, only more demanding and complicated.

Hee. It really does. And my RL friends who don't have an LJ just don't understand.

Personally it helps me get through things - something really horrible happens, and I think, 'can't wait to post this on LJ' and it helps me see the humor in the situation, or at least makes me feel like I'm not all alone.

Even if I haven't read Harry Potter 6 yet.
