I don't even know who Coldplay is

You know how Amazon recommends things to you based on what you bought? Well apparently, because I bought the adult cover version of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Amazon.co.uk recommends a Coldplay album for me.

Why? What is the connection between Coldplay and Harry Potter? Anyone?

I think it's because both HP and Coldplay are at the top of their respective lists right now? They assume you like popular stuff, I guess, which is kind of a silly assumption.

My only guess is maybe Coldplay are getting featured in a lot of songfics. ::grins::

Do you really not know who Coldplay is though? Wonderful band, and their new CD seems to be quite good (I have only played it through once though, so I can't give my expert opinion).

But their last release, A Rush of Blood to the Head, is brilliant. Simply brilliant. I'm sure you must have heard the song "Clocks" before...

No, I really haven't. I don't listen to the radio much, and when I do it's 'classic rock'.

Will have to give them a listen.

You should! They rule! And as a bonus the lead singer has a kid called Apple!

Because HBP and Coldplay are both items bought by everybody, regardless of taste and age. Coldplay's one of those bands, like U2 for instance, that you really have to work at to not like.

Well, being an Alan Rickman fangirl, I do know that Mr. Rickman was spotted at a Coldplay concert. Maybe that's the connection.

That made me laugh a really lot.

People really are that crazy about Teh Man, though. I thought I was obsessed before I saw the lengths to which some people go.

All the cool Sues listen to Coldplay.

No...the ones who are actually cool. Not the ones who think they're cool because they're omgsopunk!1!!11!

[identity profile] october31st.livejournal.com 2005-08-05 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Punk? Listening to Coldplay makes them punk? Excuse me while I go laugh for several hours...

(at them, not you. just making sure :))

[identity profile] zambonigirl.livejournal.com 2005-08-05 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
The misconception as to what makes someone punk that prevails-particularly in the Ho!Mione makeovers and Leg!Olas falls into Earth-stories often has me giggling.

[identity profile] ciara-belle.livejournal.com 2005-08-05 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Because they're both awesome?

Seriously, though, check Coldplay out. I thought I wasn't going to like them and was all grumpy when my mom and brother put them on EVERY SINGLE TIME we were in the car, but now I quite like them.

Also, their lead singer, Chris Martin, is Gwenyth Paltrow's husband. Just thought I'd mention that.

Coldplay is a decent listen. *g*

And, if you ever want some Tony, we should like, meet for lunch, and I will totally ram it in your ears. I have cds! LOL

And mp3s! I can also send via AIM!

Live ones are the bestest, of course.

We should totally meet for lunch. I'll give this Tony guy a listen!
