Ah, home

Well, I'm at home for a few hours because my carefully crafted Charlie Care network broke down.

Kate, the Regular minder has school from 11-3 Tuesday and Thursday. As Charlie is also in school during those hours, this is not a problem. There is no school today, because of Yom Kippur. In the past, I've usually been able to count on my neighbor to take Charlie in a pinch, as she homeschools her daughter but, well, they're Jewish, and today is the really important Jewish holiday, so they're not around. Then Jennifer, who can also usually take Charlie, since she is home with her own son, but she has been, as you know, very ill, and she is just not up to watching two boys. My husband couldn't stay home because he's having all sorts of drama at his work with things flooding and whatnot, so that's out. Old Psycho Babysitter had offered to watch him this week, but I'm so not opening that door again.

So I'm home. Which isn't a horrible thing, but I still don't have any sick time, and not enough vacation time, so I'm on 'leave without pay' at the moment. Which sort of sucks.

But...home is good. I like home.

Home *is* good.

Of course, I'm temporarily delirious with joy because I have accomplished nearly two pages of fic-I-didn't-want-to-work-on. Now I'm free. Free to...clean the bathrooms, actually.

I need to form a network like that, sadly all nets have holes. Right now we have grandma which doesn't work well when we have weddings and such to go to where my parents are also invited.

Yeah, it's probably a good idea not to fall into the trap of using your old babysitter. If you let her back into things again, it's only going to lead to more weirdness from her.
I'm home today, too. But because I felt all yucky this morning, stuffy nose, and my head all umm... thick - you know what I mean? I decided it probably wasn't a good idea to go work in the school cafeteria when I'm all germy.

You know, I keep sitting at my computer trying to come up with a good story for [livejournal.com profile] discworld_smut and have yet to come up with anything good. I have an idea, I just don't know if I can do it justice, since I'm not all that good with the naughty bits. Really want to do Angua/Sally though.

I'm awful at Smut myself. But I tried it some people liked it. Hang in there I don't expect everyone to write Anasis Nin
qality stuff.

Gah, this country drives me nuts sometimes. Stupid conservatives railing that women's rights errode the country's moral fabric, yet mother's get penalized for staying home with their kids. *grrrr!*

Hope home is fun, though. :)

Oh yes.

Home IS good.

Yom Kippur is considered a school holiday? Does he go to a private Jewish school?

Sorry, but that's sort of messing up the whole separation of church and state...

Okay, I'll let it go. Sorry you're home, but home is good. And you can spend time with your little cutie.

Well, all the public schools in my area close for Christmas, so maybe they are just trying to bring more religions into the school-holiday club?

We hade Yom Kippur off school ever since I was small, and I went to a public school.

Hope you have a good day at home today.

Hey, you never posted your LOST thoughts last night! Or did you and I missed it? *goes back filtering through the friends page...*

Posted some thoughts on [livejournal.com profile] lost_tv but haven't done it here. Yet.

Quite liked the episode, though. "Cluck You". Hee.

Hmm.... If you get Yom Kippur off, you also get other holidays off? That's a bit much holidays, don't you think?

[identity profile] charliesmum.livejournal.com 2005-10-13 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Off the top of my head, I think Yom Kippur is the only Jewish Holiday the schools close for. I guess they decided one Christian holiday = Christamas and one Jewish Holiday is fair.

[identity profile] jessii-6.livejournal.com 2005-10-14 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
that's too little holidays then :)
I'm spoilt, you see. We get: 3 days for new year, 2 for Yom Kippur, and 8 for Sukkot, all just this month (which is why my university starts after the last of holidays end. But school kids don't study much).
