Mars needs music

It's taking quite a bit of my willpower not to start spending money on iTunes. "It's only .99 cents!" my ego argues, "That's nothing!"

"But," says my brain, "It adds up quickly. I'm pretty sure you could live without Bowling for Soup's 1985 on your iPod."

"But I want it," whines the ego. "And I want other songs too. I'm bored of our CDs. I want new songs. I want Coldplay. I want to hear songs that were written in this century, for heaven's sake. And don't tell me we have Sting. He doesn't count."

"We can't afford to start buying stuff like that." says Brain, sensibly. "We'll lose track and before we know it, we'll have spent $20 on songs that we don't really need; money we don't really have."

Ego pouts, temporarily stymied. But browses iTunes anyway.

Charlie slept for 12 hours. That's pretty unusual for him. I think he was still a bit under the weather yesterday. At 8:30 last night he told me he wanted to go to bed. He's chipper now, though, bright as a penny. So that's good.

By the way, my brother in law lent me three books at Christmas, and I highly recommend them. They are Bubbles Unbound, Bubbles in Trouble, and Bubbles Ablaze Mystery stories along the same vein of the Stephanie Plum books, and as addictive as potato chips. I spent some of a gift card to get the fourth book, after reading the first three in as many days. I highly recommend them to anyone who enjoys a good mystery mixed with humor and great characters.

Must go start the day now.

They're like Stephaie Plum books? I'll be heading out to the bookstore this afternoon, that's for sure! I need something new to read, and those sound perfect.

You'll like these books if you like Janet Evanovich. Let me know what you think!

Try www.allofmp3.com and yes, they have a site in American and not just Russian.

try this site:

MP3's Hits Dot Com (http://www.mp3shits.com). It has a huge archive of free downloadable mp3s. You'll find about a third of them end up being broken links, and it helps if you have a good virus blocker so you don't get the odd spyware implanted in your 'puter, but there are a lot of jewels among the bunch. Easily half of my current playlist came from that site.

Actually, I have 1985 on my computer. We may be able to arrange something.

What could I send you in return?

[identity profile] jessii-6.livejournal.com 2005-12-30 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
if you want illegally downloaded songs, just ask. I have ed2K open 24/7 anyway, so it's no bother.
Personally, I found iTunes very much lacking - but I suppose that store isn't aimed at people like me.

You wouldn't have the Moulin Rouge soundtrack, would you? :)

*jumps up and down and waves hand* Pick me! I got the Moulin Rouge soundtrack for Christmas!

well... I saw you already got an offer. do you have a gmail account? (because you know... it's good to have ~2Gb to get files to)
and like I said, ask for anything and if I can find it, you'll have it

http://www.yousendit.com/ is a good site to share file too :) (and your inbox isn't full too quickly).

I presonally prefer rapidshare.de for such activities as it doesn't have a maximum number of downloads. It does have a maximum size (well, not really, but it has a maximum download per hour limit, so it's the same to me)

[identity profile] atlantel.livejournal.com 2005-12-31 10:59 am (UTC)(link)
I just looked at rapidshare, its max is only 100Mb per file... where yousendit = 1Gb.
and with a fake e-mail, I think it's ok, don't you think?

[identity profile] jessii-6.livejournal.com 2005-12-31 11:21 am (UTC)(link)
I actually use my real email (as in sending to myself) usually.
The problem with yousendit is that it only allows for the file to be downloaded 10-15 times, whereas rapidshare is unlimited number of downloads. In fact, they will keep it on their servers if you get at least one download for a month, I think.
There is the 20(?)Mb/hour cap, however.

But the truth is, that if you want to send a big file to one person your best bet is trough IRC or IMs, imo, as it will will be much faster.

It all depends on what you need, I guess.

I do have a gmail account, but I never use it, and I sort of forget what my address is now. Sad, no? I think it might be charliesmum at gmail, but I'm not sure.

[identity profile] jessii-6.livejournal.com 2005-12-31 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
well.. maybe you should remember what it is (it probably has the whole restore password thing) as I doubt I can catch you on IM or the like.
And btw, about a lifetime ago I sent you a CD... did you check the mp3s there?

[identity profile] femaelstrom27.livejournal.com 2005-12-31 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
It is scary to think that if you had, say, 1,000 songs on your iPod...that's $1,000 right there. It seems like such a tiny amount of money, but DAMN. I don't have an iPod, I just have iTunes, and with the songs I've downloaded for free plus all my CDs, I have 1368 songs. Sorry, those were just thoughts that popped into my head.

[identity profile] jessii-6.livejournal.com 2005-12-31 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
one thousand? only??? how is that enough for you?
I have 1000Gb in my mp3 player and that's so little. I have around 20Gb of music files

[identity profile] charliesmum.livejournal.com 2005-12-31 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! It's funny. And it does add up, it's scary. But I suppose it is still cheaper than buying the whole cd. Or something.
