Blah blah blah blah fishcakes

My friend Trish came over on Friday for lunch, which was really nice, because I hardly ever get to see her, and she's the sort of friend with whom I can hold entire conversations in code. Twenty years on, and if we're on the phone and I ask her something and she says "That's it, that's exactly it!" I know she's telling me she can't talk freely.

Anyway...she brought me this book It's Not Easy Being Green, because she is made of awesome. She said it was a 'hostess gift'. I have friends who are far nicer to me then I ever deserve. All of you who are Muppet/Jim Henson fans must rush out right now and get this book. It is beautiful. It is quotes from Jim, and people who knew him, and lines from some of his movies and shows, and it is amazing. Brought me to tears more than once, I don't mind telling you.

Tonight I had to clean the hamster cage, and he wouldn't go into his rolly ball, and I tried to gently nudge him in and he bit me. Now my finger hurts.

Someone on [livejournal.com profile] house_music asked for and received some songs sung by Jesse Spencer that I guess he did in that movie Uptown Girl, so I downloaded it. Harkens back to my bubblegum pop days starring people like the Monkees. It isn't bad, but I think he made a better career choice going with House.

I am hosting my book club tomorrow. Another advantage of 'working from home' is my house is lots cleaner than it usually is so I won't have to a) scramble or b) be embarassed.

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend.

Hugs and stuff.

Yeah, he did. That was my favorite. It really did harken back to the teeny-bopper music of my youth, though.

Oooh, good friends, working from home, and a book club! Go you!

What are you reading?

The book was the Alchimist by Paulo Coelho but, er, I never actually got around to reading it. I'm bad. I did print out questions, though, so I can at least sound smart.

Yeah, I wanna know what your book club is reading. Other peoples books always fascinate me. When I go to someones house for the first time, the first thing I make for is their book shelves. I believe you can tell a lot about a person by the books they keep.

Oh, I so agree with that. You can tell a lot about someone by his or her bookshelves. The book we're doing is The Alchimist, but I didn't actually read it. Never got around to getting it. I am naughty.
