Charlie's new favorite place

Ikea.

Yes. Charlie's new favorite place is Ikea. We went there yesterday with my friend so she could look at chairs, and Charlie thought the little display rooms were, hands down, the coolest thing he'd ever seen. They really rather are, actually. They're set up to really look like small flats, or bedrooms with limited space. His favorite was this two bedroomed 'flat'. When we were finished shopping he didn't want to go. That's not something you often hear from a 9 year old boy shopping with his mother.

In other news, I got my CD/DVD burner thingy installed but now, for some reason, the stupid bloody speakers aren't bloody working. We checked the sound card in the tower thingy, but it's fine, the speakers are plugged in and working - they make feedback noise - I've troubleshot everything I can think of and they're still not working. Arugh.

Techies? Anyone? What did I do?

In the 'big world, small internet' catagory, I have a new LJ friend, [livejournal.com profile] robriki who is someone I went to college with. She found me on someone's journal. Weird, huh?

I loved the appartments in Ikea too.

How is the CD/DVD doesn't play sound? Do you use it directly (ie without software) In that case I think there should be a connection from it to the soundcard (if you hold the DVDRW with it's back to you, rightmost is the power cable, left of that is the 'master/slave indicators, in middle is the data connection and leftmost is the place where all the CDROMs I ever had had the audio exit which connects to soundcard.

oh wait. I misunderstood. The *soundcard* isn't working.
Try to take it out of its slot and put it back in. It could have moved a bit and the contact is bad

I always loved the little "apartment" displays in stores too, so I know how Charlie feels.

How are you doing on NaNo?

Charlie has good taste. I like Ikea too, some day I'll get Couch/bed thingy from them and some new chairs and a table.
