Greg's no longer in the Big Red Car

Aww...SYDNEY, Australia - The lead singer of the hugely popular children's group The Wiggles announced Thursday he would stop performing because of illness.

In a video-recorded statement, Greg Page said he had been suffering a condition called orthostatic intolerance* that had left him debilitated.

"It means that I'll no longer be able to sing and dance as I want to and as a result I've decided to stop performing with The Wiggles," said Page, 34, who is known for his bright yellow T-shirt.

The Wiggles were Australia's top-earning entertainers last year, ahead of No. 2 AC/DC and No. 3 Nicole Kidman. The four men in brightly colored T-shirts, accompanied by a cast of characters including Dorothy the Dinosaur and Wags the Dog, grossed $39 million last year.

Page helped found The Wiggles in 1991 after he and two other members met while studying early childhood education at Sydney's Macquarie University.

The group has franchised its enormously popular recipe to several non-English speaking countries, including Taiwan.

*Googled: Orthostatic intolerance can then be defined as "the development of symptoms during upright standing relieved by recumbency".

Upright standing? Is there any other kind?

Poor Greg Page aka the Yellow Wiggle. He's such a nice guy. I don't need to tell you how much the Wiggles meant to this family. I wonder if they'll just stop, of if they'll replace Greg. I almost would rather they stopped, but I'm a purist like that.

I read that this morning on CNN. I was so sad. My girl was obsessed with them when she was a toddler, and being a single parent, so was I!! They just won't be the same without him. And he's the main singer of the group. I don't know how they'll be able to go on without him.

So sad. I'm really glad I got to go see them this summer. :(

I was so sad to hear this. We've seen him twice in concert - we even just saw him this past May. I had figured Tyler wouldn't want to see them after this year, so I bought tickets for it. We got right up front! I'm glad we got to see them in their last year of concerts. I can tell you that Greg was sweating like crazy & I wonder if that was the beginning of it.

I read this earlier and it made me a little sad. Reb used to LOVE the Wiggles. She still likes their music, and will watch them occasionally. It won't be the same without Greg.

I hope they figure out what's wrong with him and that he's back in action soon!

Millions of toddlers and their mommies are crying today!

mmmm not that i am saying he is not sick...but does this mean he is not going to stand up right anymore at all.
they grosed 39 million and he has franchised toys...i am wondering if it is more to do with the time that maybe he has also had enough?????
