Charlie's school thingy - an update

Got an email from the principal this morning:

Thank you for your e-mail. I do not have the details regarding this incident, so I will copy of our Assistant Principal, Mr. Sheridan on this e-mail and ask him to contact you to review and discuss this situation. From past experience I know that you are proactive with Charlie and appreciate the support that you have provided. We will continue to work together on Charlie's behalf....Take care...

Don't you think 'I know that you are proactive with Charlie' also sounds like it could be a back-handed way of saying 'you are annoying'?

I'm quite pleased with the principal, actually. He is an advocate of Charlie, so I feel confident I'll get to the bottom of this situation.

I did have a nice long talk with Charlie about never judging people by what they look like, etc. He already knew that, though. Like someone pointed out in the last post, we spent a long time a few years ago talking about that very thing, thanks to the movie Hairspray.

I just hope I'm right and Charlie didn't actually say that.

What precautions do you think you might take in the meantime ? I mean, do you think Charlie will carry on doing gym ?

Now, see, I didn't take the line that way. I heard it as, "I know you stay on top of things where Charlie is concerned. I don't see Charlie doing something like this slipping past you. But I can't say openly that I don't think that Charlie did this."

I tend to agree.

I didn't get that impression from the email. It sounded more like the principal wanted to acknowledge what you wrote, as opposed to just giving a stock response.

I read your earlier post... I can't imagine Charlie saying anything like that, unless another student tricked him into doing it. I hope things get straightened out soon. It's not write for him to get into trouble for something he didn't say, when I'm sure the other kids are being far more obnoxious.

I'm thinking about you two. I hope things work out.
