Here I am, posting from Dreamwidth. Just...well...just because, I guess.
Am wondering how many of my LJ friends are migrating/have migrated here. I'm hoping some of the communities come here, if LJ really is going the way of the dinosaur, because I really like the communities I'm a part of on LJ.
I think it's kind of interesting that TPTB on LJ haven't noticed that DW has gotten tons of new members as a direct result of the cross-posting kertuffle, and haven't at least tried to do some damage control.
Anywhoodle...
Who else is coming to Dreamwidth? Anyone? Buller? Does anyone get that reference anymore?

I think LJ is trying to Ignore the outrage, and hopes everyone will settle down.
All my gift fic comms have already moved here, and one of my RP comms is moving as well.

I think that's why LJ isn't doing any spin control. They're hoping sheer inertia will take over. And if it doesn't--well, I think it's a safe bet to say that LJ's staff does NOT like its English-speaking customers. This is what's been going on:
- The staff's blatant disregard for LJ's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy...
- LJ's disregard of the fact that ALL public AND friend-locked entries currently allow for cross-posting to Twitter/Facebook... "Once we implement this change, it will no longer be possible to cross-post screened comments or comments left on Friends Only entries. " (IE: not NOW!)
- "Share This" link now shares whole posts with over 50 various 'social networking sites'... rather than just sending one e-mail with link (which is the way it used to be).
- The staff is refusing to do anything for "a couple of weeks"...when they know this is a serious security/privacy bug.
- LJ will allow customers to "opt out" of all other forms of "journal promotion"--but not these.
- Staff are allowed to troll the News site and to be overtly abusive to its userbase in writing...and then deleted everything to cover their tracks. AND they get keep their jobs afterwards; after all, they're not doing anything that would be considered outrageously unprofessional in any other business...oh. Wait.

I've seen several friends move over to DreamWidth in the last year or so for various reasons, including something to do with logging links followed to certain sites for advertising purposes. Those didn't affect me, so I stayed, but my journal is locked for a reason. I don't want it to be public. I trust my friends, but I no longer trust LJ.
I'd be even happier if a DW paid account cost about the same as an LJ one, and if they had image hosting. However I have at least three other places I can put pictures and link to them, so that will have to do for now.

I have a Dreamwidth account but I haven't done anything with it. I suppose if all my LJ friends abandon LJ and head over to Dreamwidth, I'll do so as well. I'm glad you're cross-posting.

Somewhere in there is probably some sort of clever, cold-war reference I can make; what with LJ being Russian owned and all, but I'm not really feeling all that clever right now. :)

And creationism.

The way I see it, anyone truly concerned with privacy would have all of their entries locked in the first place, so people bothered by the cross posting really have no reason to complain about it if their entries are public.
I'm on DW under the same name, but I don't hardly get on there except as an afterthought.

I'm on DW under the same name, but I am chronically lazy and haven't actually used my account at all. If enough people from my flist migrate, I may just start crossposting, but I don't really see myself leaving LJ altogether.

And I am moving over to DW, but I'm keeping my LJ too.

I'd add you, though, if you wanted me to.
