Well, I just put a new story on Fanfiction.net Fate Made Us Sisters, if anyone wants to go read it and leave reviews like 'OMG11!!! U R Graet! Wat a good story! Rite mor k'' and stuff like that. :)
The second after I posted it, I noticed something amiss with the syntax, and tried to replace it, but last time I checked it was still my first version, so you may notice a couple of glaring errors - wrong commas, and one sentence made it sound like the lake was surrounded by girls, not Lily. Hopefully the proper version will be along shortly.
I totally loved how Rory gained the upper hand with Logan. I'm sure he totally expected her to get all blubbery when she saw him with that other girl, so he could be condecending and remind her that he warned her he'd be a total dick. But Rory sucked it up and went to the party with another boy, and I say more power to her. Party of the least interest is the party with the most power, and Rory totally won that round. I would be willing to be that entire storyline was written by someone who didn't do that when she was in college and wished she did. Some people complain that Rory is being too slutty and stuff, but I find the whole college life thing to be portrayed very realistically.
Right. Wasted enough time. Back to work.

Damn, woman. I could actually see Petunia looking at the pictures.

Awww! Sniff. I loved the ending, although to be honest, I was wondering how much Harry's mood of late would have needed to improve for him to do that. But then, as I remember him softening a bit toward Luna, because of her misfortunes, at the end of OotP, I could imagine him doing the same after seeing Petunia cry.
As for Petunia, you did a great job keeping her believably in character, yet sympathetic -- sort of drawing us in to get us to see her point of view.

Yeah - that bit was probably a bit of wishful thinking on my part. I based it on the bit in book 5 when Petunia says 'he's back' and Harry suddenly really feels that Petunia was his mother's sister. I rather hope that him seeing his aunt crying over the photographs would stir pity in his egocentric adolecent breast.
I have this whole theory that Harry needs to learn compassion in order to beat Voldemort. Dumbledore's said several times that Voldemort understimates love, that he thinks caring for someone is weak, and therefore doesn't understand the power of compassion. (well, he doesn't use those words but that's the jist!) So I think Harry actually needs to develop compassion toward people like Petunia in order for him to eventually defeat Voldemort.
I hope I'm right. (I also had this whole idea that the spell he uses to get rid of Voldemort is a variation of the cheering charm. But I'm weird...)

This very interesting but exceedingly complicated theory posits that it may be Lockhart's favorite spell that will do the trick.
(The theory just keeps getting more complicated, too. Whenever I've gone to find the link to send to someone, she's revised it and it just keeps getting longer and longer and longer.)
