I'm too dumb for shows like Lost

They keep putting in these things that I totally miss until someone on a forum somewhere mentions it. In last night's episode, Flashback!Locke tells someone that regulation footballs are aisle 8, Nerf, aisle 15 - 8 and 15 being two of the spooky cursed numbers from Hurley's episode. I totally missed that.

I also missed that the actor playing...another character, won't say in case it counts as a spoiler, was the actor who played Roy DeSoto on Emergency! I totally didn't recognize him, and dang, he's old now. Emergency! was a great show. I vaguely remember it from my childhood, but Husband and I enjoyed watching it more recently when it was on Nick At Nite. My brother in law's partner Terry Burke was on an episode of Emergency! even.

I've been vaguely wondering if my Terry ever worked with Terry O'Quinn, as they are about the same age and were both hard working actor types in the 70's. (see how I cleverly tie everything together?)

I totally missed that number bit too! I guess I'm not smart enough either, or just not inclined to analyze every single word they say to find the hidden meanings.
I hadn't noticed that was the guy from Emergency! - I knew he looked familiar, but I didn't place him.

I know - Now I have to see the episode again, just so I can recognize him.

I'm just not good at picking up clues, despite my childhood love of Nancy Drew!

Nancy Drew! I read and owned all the Nancy Drew books when I was a kid. I think my mom gave them all away - wish she hadn't, I'd love to have given them to my girls to read.

I still have some of my Nancy Drew books. Some are actually old, because they belonged to my mom. I like the old ones the best. The ones where Nancy calls her friends 'chums' with no trace of irony, and Ned is her 'special' friend, but they never even kiss, and she drives a Roadster and wears dresses while 'sluthing'.

You are NOT too dumb for LOST. I miss all sorts of things and I'm obsessed! I didn't catch the numbers, either. Are you talking about Locke's father? I don't know the actor's name. I still plan on asking Terry if he ever met your Terry. Terry Burke, right?

Oh, goody. Yes, Terry Burke. I have to ask him if he knows 'your' Terry, but I've not gotten a hold of him yet!

Yeah - I was talking about Locke's father.
