Bored Now

I changed my layout again. Something was going weird with the photograph, and I was getting bored anyway. So now I have this mildly boring, but nicely purple layout.

I have a hard time sticking with things.

No news on the husband job front. No news is, I suppose, good news, unless they're just waiting to do it this Friday, which is likely, I suppose. Whatev. So tired of worrying about it.

Life on Mars is on tonight. Hurrah.

Speaking of Mars, Charlie is talking to himself in the shower, and is singing the Blues Clues planet song. I hope the scientists know they totally ruined that song by taking Pluto's status away.

I was going to ask everyone to share a happy memory of a first day of school, but I can't think of one of my own. That's not to say I didn't have happy ones, I always liked the first day, bad things hadn't happened yet, but I can't think of a particularly eventful day.

I know Freshman year was good; I made friends, and saw some older friends, and left that first day fully optimistic about my high school life, but I can't remember particulars.

I do know for my sophmore year I wore this black one piece thing with a scarf and a black hat, even though it was really hot, because it was 1982 and I was looking totally, like awesome, ya know?

So, anyone have good stories? Anyone? Bueller?

Strangely, I remember very little about my school days, and especially not 'first' days. I don't think I had such a horrible time in school that I've tried to erase it all from my mind, I just don't seem to have very good long term memory or something.

I don't have any very specific first day memories. Just a general impression of a new smell, crisp clean uniform shirts, the unfamiliar swish of a skirt after wearing trousers and shorts all summer, the early morning light on the hills across the harbour, bubbling impatience, and heat. The first few days, which always tend to merge in my memory, are imbued with the impression of hot sunshine and insect noise. They tie closely to my memories of the days at the end of the school year; long, hot days with very little in the way of actual schoolwork.
