Penguins! An Update

That book is based on a true story. The penguins actually exist and live in the Central Park Zoo! The two boy penguins mated with each other, basically, and then put a rock into a nest, hoping it would hatch out a baby, so the zoo put a fertilized egg in their nest, and they got their wish.

I bought the book for Charlie as a Christmas gift. I can't wait to read it.

In sadder news, although still speaking of same-sex parents, the foster kids are officially gone. My friend said she was okay until a kindergardener saw her and said, "I know you! You're Amber's Mom!"

Thanks for all your kind words on their behalf. I just pray that the kids will be okay.

And, just to lighten the mood, a quick Charlie story:

The other night he was talking about wanting this wall mural of the view of Earth from the moon. (I just spent way too much time trying to find it online, and couldn't. grr).

I told him I wasn't sure he had the wall space to do it, then I said it could maybe go behind his dresser with the mirror. He misunderstood, I guess, and thought I was saying we'd take down the mirror, so he said, "How will I be able to see how handsome I am?"

The book sounds lovely. I'm still so sorry about your friends who lost their foster kids. For crap's sake, I'm falling apart losing foster *kittens*. I can't even imagine, especially knowing the kids are likely going back to be abused. That's so unbelievably awful.

Are you friends a gay couple? If so, I'm going to be even madder because I'm going to be sure that played some role in the decision not to give the kids to them. If they're not, why the hell DIDN'T they give the kids to them?!

Yes, my friends are a gay couple. One of the reasons Amber got placed with them along with her siblings is because she was freaking out and crying every time the father came home to the house she was living in, because of the sexual abuse her bio father inflicted on her.

I do wonder if they'd been a so-called traditional couple this wouldn't have happened. They did adopt their son from the same people, though, so I don't know.

It's just so sad.

(there is a lot of space stuff in there)
But they do have them. I think if you go to a college with a printing press or a photo place that does murals. They are usually cheaper.
Or you can just draw it yourself/paint it. :-) I don't think Charlie will be picky if it's not perfect. :-) It came from his Mom, that's all it matters.
