What, me worry?
Dalai Lama quote for the day: If a problem is fixable, if a situation is such that you can do something about it, then there is no need to worry. If it's not fixable, then there is no help in worrying. There is no benefit in worrying whatsoever.
I try to live by those words. Like with the job thing. What will happen, will happen. I'm doing what I can, and the rest is out of my hands, right? (and yet I still have that nagging voice in my head saying 'yeah, but...')
I forgot to mention Charlie lost one of top front teeth on Friday. Tooth Fairy brought him a silver dollar. You know, the whole Tooth Fairy tradition is so odd, isn't it - it so obviously stems from some ancient folkloric belief about someone using one's body parts for magic or something. I wonder how paying for it negates it. I need to research that.
My cat is doing much better, by the way. He has a thyroid problem. The antibiotics seem to be clearing up whatever infection he had, and he is much more cheerful and lively, as evidenced by the strip of skin he took off my hand when I gave him his medicine this morning.
The snack food machine in the office is broken. Someone put a sign on it to let folks know this is the case. They wrote, "The machine is broke". That really annoys me. I crossed off 'broke' and wrote 'broken'. That was snotty of me, wasn't it? Tough. These are grown people who ought to know the difference between 'broke' and 'broken'.
Right. Back to work.

No. That was reasonable.
I probably would have crossed off "broke," would have written "broken," and then added "So is this person's vocabulary." (That, I think, is snotty.)

on a side note I know that quote, a bit differently perhaps, but I ran into it when I was looking for quotes to write on cards for my leave from army gathering (we brought food. everyone came over, ate and played along as if they care. The commanders made a small 'how good they were' speach. it's a custom). it went this way for two things you should not worry: for things that you can fix and for things you can not fix. The things you can fix - should be fixed, and why worry? What can not be fixed - how worrying will help? (obviously it doesn't sound right. that's because it's translated)

Hyper or hypo? Our gray tabby is hyperthyroid; he was diagnosed about three years ago. The vet has him on Tapozol for it, so we've had to come up with some creative ways to get his pills down him. He got wise to us hiding the pill in his treats, so Mom's moved on to crushing it up and mixing it in with some tuna. He just laps it right up. And it keeps our skin intact :)

Will try the crushing up, I think.
