Shut up, Dean

I really like how Rory is being portrayed. Things that are happening to her are pretty much things that happen to people in college. Kurt, whom I normally like, was a bit annoying, but the whole museum thing was amusing.

I can't stand Dean. If by some astronomical chance one of the GG writers ever find this post, I need to ask, what is up with Dean? He's supposed to have been the 'good guy' but he's a big, wangsty jerk. He breaks up with Rory because she didn't say "I love you" back right away. I have issues with this. She was 16 at the time. She shouldn't have to say it. Then he totally marries his rebound girl because he's so in love with love or something, I mean, lighten up! Then, and this is the part that bugs, he tells Rory that his marriage is over even when it wasn't then makes her feel like she's the one that wrecked the marriage. She wouldn't have slept with him if he didn't tell her the marriage was over. Then he breaks up with her again because she was having fun with other boys. She wasn't dumping Dean for the rich boys, he just got all 'woe is me, wangsty' again. Then last night he tells Luke that Lorelai will dump him because she ultimately things she's too good for Luke and the town. Rory, maybe - I see her moving into her grandparent's sphere, but in a good way, taking her mother's down-to-earth attitude with her, but Lorelai chose Stars Hollow. She's happy there. Shut up, Dean.

I called the job, and they're still working on it. They've narrowed it down, and I'm still in the running, but she won't have an answer until maybe tomorrow or Friday. Because I know you all couldn't sleep last night for wondering.

And, in happy news, I finished the blanket God told me to make I was knitting!

I worry that it is a bit too square, but I'd run out of the 2nd skein of yarn, and if I wasn't careful might go knitting that thing forever. So, it's done.

Just a close up so you can see the pattern

Today is the earliest possible day that [livejournal.com profile] zambonigirl's Brozo would get the package I sent him. I hope he gets it soon. (Actually, I was rather hoping they'd all get sent home before it had a chance to get to Iraq, but that's not going to happen.)

More later, because, well, I don't feel like being at work, to be honest.

see? There was no reason to worry after all.

Awesome! The colors remind me of Christmas candy canes. Are you going to block it?

(p.s. You should totally make a hat next. They're easy and go fast.)

Er...what does 'block it' mean?

[identity profile] fourthage.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
You wash it, then (for a flat piece), lay it out and pin it while it dries. That helps shape the piece. It really isn't necessary for something like a blanket, I was just curious if you were going to.

Re: Gilmore Girls -- I know a lot of people don't like Dean, but I have to admit that I find his character progression logical and realistic. Same as with Rory, and all the other characters. One of the things I love about the show is that it's quirky, but charming, and still believable.

And when you said Kurt, I think you mean Kirk....

[identity profile] charliesmum.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I think my issue is that he was, for the first couple of seasons, the 'good guy' and I found him to be overly sensitive and wangsty. Not unreal or unbelivable, but annoying. (I dated people like that in my high school days!)

And, right. Kirk. That's what I meant.

Neat blanket!

Oh, that's good news about the job! And I love the blankie!

How's your friend doing, by the way?

[identity profile] lizzyrose89.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
She's doing okay. Monday morning it happened in assembly, which wasn't good. She went all woozy on us yesterday lunchtime, but nothing happened. The still don't know what's wrong. There've also been a couple of people being too sensitive about it all at school so she felt awkward, which wasn't so fun, but she managed to laugh about it afterwards so that's a bit better than it could be.

Apart from that, and nearly knocking herself out by dropping a glass bottle of Worcestershire Sauce on her head from the top shelf of the cupboard, she's doing okay I think.

I still have my fingers crossed for you. I hope the job comes through!
