I don't have much to say that is in anyway interesting, but I haven't posted in awhile, so here I am.

For those who care, Charlie is really enjoying 8th grad so far. We did have a couple of hiccoughs in the beginning, though.

When I had his IEP meeting, I mentioned that the two things he really wanted to do was wood shop and band.

When he got his schedule, guess what was his 8th period class? It was a 'turtorial'. For Math. Which he's actually good at.

So, I emailed the principal, and said, broadly, WTF? Where are the classes he wanted that I specifically mentioned?

Someone called me and we got it sorted - Wood shop 1st half of the year, band 2nd half.

But then the band teacher had issues with this, because band is a full year thing, and Charlie would be too far behind or something. Or it wouldn't be fair. I don't know. I mean, they start all new songs in the spring, so it's not like Charlie would have to catch up, and this is a child who memorises all the scores. But whatever.

So he'll just do wood shop all year, I figure, but no, wood shop is only half a year.

What it came down to was, Charlie had to make a choice between band and wood shop. He chose wood shop. And now he needs to pick a 2nd term class. He's leaning towards art.

My grandfather (for whom Charlie is named) did work working as a hobby. When we were talking about his choice, and he decided to do wood shop he said, "I'm doing it for Great-Grandfather."
