We met in the 7th grade through a mutual friend. We cemented our friendship in history class shortly afterwords with a mock argument about the White Horse of Uffington.*

Through the years we remained friends, occasinally drifting in and out of intimacy as teenaged friendships sometimes do, but always she was there at the core.

After college we mostly lost touch, but never completely - mutual friends kept us connected within a few degrees of seperation. We did get married the same year, and started a family at approximately the same time, so fate made sure we always had something in common.

Since our children were born, our friendship has grown into adulthood, and I am extremely lucky to have her as my friend. She has always, always been there for me, we can talk about anything and everything, or nothing, and enjoy ourselves doing it. It's a friendship spanning, er, lots of years, and it is one of the greatest blessings of my life.

My best friend is a really amazing person; smart, witty, caring, and she deserves all the happines this world can bring.

Happy birthday, Kathryn. According to many Halmark cards, life begins now. I'm glad we'll be enjoying it together.

The greatest thing about blogging is it combines the ego-centric whining of a diary with a support group. I love the fact that I can bitch about stupid things in my journal simply as an outlet for my feelings so I don't end up smacking my head into a wall, and still get people to, metaphorically speaking, pat me on the back and say 'there, there.'

You all rock. Thank you. Really, really thank you.

So. I get a call this morning on my cell phone. It is on 'restricted' so I think it is my really nice but slightly paranoid neighbor calling me, as she did the other day. Guess who it was.
