Stupid title, I know. It isn't really even a Manic Monday. It's just a Monday. Another Monday in a long line of Mondays...

I forgot to tell everyone that Charlie had is first piano lesson on Saturday. He did very well. I was afraid he would have trouble saying focused, and there were a couple of times where he sort of drifted off, but all in all he really followed directions well.

I realise this is coming from a doting mother, but I really think he has the potential to get really good at piano. He picked up the things the teacher was showing him very quickly.

The bridal shower was lovely, by the way. My cousin rivals Martha Stewart with her amazing entertaining talents. She made her own truffles, for goodness sake! And her own fruit tarts! And the food was amazing. The cousin for whom the shower was being thrown got some amazing gifts - she is marrying into a very big, very Italian family, so there were many gifts. I got her a Rachel Ray Cookbook and it turns out she is a fan of same, so go me.

Prior to the shower, my mother, Charlie and I went to The Outlet Stores in Flemington, and got some bargins. I got a really cute Liz Claiborne purse for $15.00. And this cool drapy sweater thingy that I'm wearing right now. Charlie was extremely patient while we shopped, following behind and playing his gameboy, but at one point his patience snapped and he said, 'Not another dressing store!'

To counter the abject boringness of this post, I would like to point you in the direction of the always entertaining and thought-provoking [livejournal.com profile] slammerkinbabe, who broke the internets recently by commenting on the movie The Wedding Crashers, and how she found a particular scene really unfunny. (don't click if you don't want to be 'spoiled' for the movie, by the way) She got many, many comments. Then someone metaquoted her, and people weighed in with their opinons in no uncertain terms. Many more comments there.

Whether or not you agree with her POV, the whole subject is very thought provoking. And lively debate is always fun, I think.

I just wanted to say that I am SO sorry that I didn't get in touch and babysit Charlie on Sunday. I feel awful. I kept being like "Oh, I'll do that." And then on Saturday night I set my alarm for 8 a.m so I could wake up and contact you...and then of course I woke up at 11. Ack. I'm not usually that...undependable. How can I make it up to you?
