Thoughts on a Thursdasy
Apr. 15th, 2004 10:30 am"Reading is a conversation. All books talk. But a good book listens as well. " - Mark Haddon.
I got the above quote from an article he wrote for The Guardian. I thought it summed books up quite nicely. I've always liked the books that I feel gave me something to really think about, as well as entertained me.
Mark Haddon wrote a book called "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime" who's protaganist is a 15 year old boy with Asperger's Syndrome. I've not read it yet, but I did read an exerpt, and it is very interesting.
I'd like to take this moment to plug N.A.A.R - The National Alliance for Autism Research. They do good work, and they have walks around the country to raise money for research.
The walk in my area (South Jersey) is in June, and I am going to do it. I went last year, and it was a great experience. It was nice to see so many people there, supporting the cause, and walking for friends and family members who deal with PDD.
Here is a link to the walk info, for anyone who is interested.
