Jul. 11th, 2004 03:21 pmWell, today is my 12th anniversary. What, you may ask, am I doing writing on my blog when I should be out celebrating my 12th anniversary? Well, er, I don't know. Actually we've had a nice day so far. We went out to breakfast at our favorite family breakfast place (Old Country Buffet). Not exciting but we like it there. Then we went to the pool and spent a couple of hours playing in the water, and that was nice. Not sure how the rest of the afternoon is going to go, but we'll see.
Summer goes quickly, doesn't it? It's strange. I guess because you feel like you have a limited amount of time to do all the fun-filled things you think you ought to do when it's summertime, and you try to cram them in the weekends, since grown ups don't really get summers off, and it just goes by before you have a chance to do everything.
But that's okay. I like the pool. It's like a mini-vacation. Charlie swims in the water, I swim for awhile, then sit in a chair and get tanned and read a mystery novel. I like mysteries while sitting in the sun. It's like Terry Pratchett said in The Last Continent about any book you take on the beach turns into something with a greek letter in it, and a word like 'connection' or 'conspiracy' or something. Somehow reading Voltaire while sitting in a deck chair listening to my six year old splash and play doesn't seem quite right.
