Adding my voice to the throng

I'm sad that Kerry/Edwards lost. I have never felt this strongly about a candidate before. I didn't want Bush to win four years ago, and that was before I knew what he was capable of.
He said "America has spoken" but I don't think he was really listening. I don't think he heard the almost 50% of people who don't like the direction we're going in, and are afraid that over the next four years our civil liberties are going to get chipped away, and rights that people deserve are still going to be denied them.

But, we are a government of checks and balances, so I take comfort in knowing he doesn't have absolute power, and maybe, just maybe, he'll learn to listen to the voices of ALL the people, not just the ones who agree with him.

I, like many people said, mostly in jest, that I'd want to move if he won again, but that's not an option, obviously. And anyway, this is my country, and I should stay and fight for what I believe in. I forget who said this, but I've always liked this quote: "It's not 'my country, right or wrong.' My country - if right, to be kept right, if wrong to be made right." and that's what we have to do. We have to make sure our voices continue to be heard.
