Lulu Publishing, a self-publishing company with a twist; the twist being the author doesn't have to pay money to get their book published. Apparently the people at Lulu will put together your book on an 'as needed' basis, so if I downloaded a book with them, and someone decided they wanted to buy it, then Lulu would bind the thing and the buyer would pay the fee, and the fee would go to the cost of printing it and binding it and any 'royalities' would be split between the company and the author, with the author getting most of it.
I've been against self-publishing, because it seems like cheating, but I have to admit this intrigues me, especially the bit about not having to pay money. But I think I would be sorry not to see my book sitting on the shelf of a bookstore. Then again, if people find and buy my story, that's good too, right?
What do you think?
( Speaking of authors )In other news, Charlie's baby-sitter and her boyfriend took Charlie to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory yesterday. He really enjoyed it. She said at first she wasn't sure he was 'getting it' but after the movie he kept talking about different scenes, so apparently he did. And her boyfriend bought my Charlie a chocolate bar. Isn't that sweet?
