Oh for crying out loud.
Aug. 9th, 2005 01:55 pmI got this off of TVGuide.com.
HARRY POTTER TURNS 13: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, now in postproduction and due to hit theaters Nov. 18, has been slapped with a PG-13 rating — a first for the blockbuster franchise — due to "sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images" and one reference to that "horrible, ----------ing son of a -------, Voldemort." The first three films, Sorcerer's Stone, Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban, all received PG ratings.
I've no problems with the PG-13, since, let's face it, book 4 can be pretty grim. What I take exception to is the indication of some severe cursing in the movie. I've nothing against cursing, overall, (although I find movies and shows *coughHBOcough* who curse every other sentence simply because they can to be really annoying) but I fail to see the necessity of it in a Harry Potter film.
And who do you suppose utters this line? Dumbledore?
I also read that the stupid movie people got the name on the gravestone wrong, putting "Tom Marvolo Riddle" when it is supposed to be Voldemort's dad, whose middle name was most definitely not "Marvolo".
I think somewhere along the line JK Rowling lost control of the movies. Blocked by all those zeros they threw at her, I guess.
