Some random Charlie talk
Aug. 12th, 2005 09:14 amCharlie seems to really enjoy 80's music. Sometimes in the morning VH1 Classic will show "We are the 80's" which is all music from my era*, and he really enjoys it. He's been trying to play Rick Springfield's 'I've done everything for you' on the piano, and is pretty good at the Go-Go's 'We Got the Beat'.
Currently he is really into this Squeeze song:
853-5937
Angela can’t make it to the phone
If you care to leave your name and number
She’ll give you a ring when she is home
Mostly because of the numbers. Last night he substituted a classmate's name and number, since our phone numbers start with 8 as well. It was dead cute...instead of "Angela" he said "Toshima". He has a crush on her, I think.
Last night he was singing some song he'd learned from school, and I was about to tell him he needed to go to sleep, but he sounded so happy, and I had one of those rare moments when one actually realises how short childhood really is, and how one day he won't be singing silly songs while falling asleep, and I thought, 'Let him sing.'
*Why do we define ourselves solely on the era in which we were teenagers? I can't remember exactly when the current music stopped being 'my music', but it did. Weird.
