Bah, bug and hum
Nov. 30th, 2005 10:25 amI'm not feeling the Christmas spirit, and I really need to feel the Christmas spirit, because I'm feeling a bit like Charlie Brown at the moment.
Maybe I should direct a Christmas play.
It doesn't help that the weather is currently mild. It's nice as a general rule, but when I'm trying to feel Christmassy, I want Jack Frost to be nipping at my nose. I want to be bundled up in my coat, a cheery scarf wrapped around my neck, my cheeks red from the brisk wind, while I trot down the street arms laden with packages while strangers call out "Merry Christmas" and carolers sing in the distance.
But it's warm out, and I'm feeling vaguely unhappy, so no Christmas spirit for me. At least not yet.
However, all is not lost, because there are things I do every year that I've yet to do that might help. I have a collection of Christmas books, and I have to get them out and start re-reading the stories. That helps. I read A Christmas Carol every year, and this lovely collection of stories by Pearl S Buck, and I have this other anthology that is full of good holiday stories. So maybe that will help.
What do you do to get into the spirit, assuming it is a spirit you feel the need to get into?
