We let our cat out sometimes. Long story why, has to do with the fact the Husband isn't fond of said cat. Besides, the cat likes to be outside.
However lately his territory has been enroached by a black and white cat that has adopted us on an ad-hoc basis. I don't know if it is a stray or just a cat who knows how to glom a free meal, but he's been around, coming onto our porch, and pissing off our cat, Butch.
Those of you with multiple cats probably know what a howling, spitting, hissing cat fight sounds like. It's kinda freaky.
This morning our cat was out for his morning constitutional, and Black and White Kitty (as Charlie dubbed him) came to call.
Not for the first time, Charlie stood in the kitchen a look of deep concern and fear on his face as he pleaded with Butch to come inside. I stood on my porch, in my dressing gown, trying to coax our cat with pieces of Lebanon Bologna; unable to pick him up because his back was so up he'd probably scratch or bite me. Eventually I coaxed B&W kitty off the porch with the bologna, and Butch came inside, must to Charlie's relief.
"Poor Butch," he crooned, "Your tail was all puffy." Then he looked at me and said, "My legs are all wobbly because I was scared for Butch."
And now he's been walking around with a reluctant Butch in his arms, trying to find a 'safe place' for him.
