Because I'm sure you are all dying to know.

We went to Pottstown PA to see my nephew play Albert in the Middle School's production of Bye, Bye Birdie. It was a big undertaking because there is no 'junior' version of this play. My nephew has an amazing singing voice; my mother-in-law laughed at me because I started to cry when he was singing "Put on a Happy Face". But I couldn't help it, he was so good.

Actually, there was an amazing amount of talent on that stage - it was easy to forget these were 11, 12 and 13 year old kids. The girl who played Kim had a beautiful soprano voice and the girl who played Rose, well, I won't be at all surprised if this girl, Courtney Daniels, is famous before she's 16. She has an phenomenal voice. She's already been on television a few times, Regis and whatshernose, and some local things, and was a semi-finalist on Star Search. Why she didn't win, I don't know. Apparently Simon Cowell phoned her recently and everything.

Anyway, it was a very nice show, and we were all very proud. Charlie really enjoyed it, too. He laughed whenever the girls screamed, and sat forward in his seat with rapt attention the entire time. He also managed to freak out the family by playing "We Love You Conrad" on his little roll up piano. Very musical family we have.

We didn't get home from the in-laws until close to midnight, and then, at 4:30 in the morning, though 'really' it was 5:30 because of the time change, we were awakened by a series of loud bangs. It was like six gunshots in quick succession. The Husband ran downstairs to see what was the matter, and discovered some poor sod had fallen asleep* at the wheel and crashed into (and knocked down) two telephone poles and two trees along the side of our road. There weren't even any skid marks. So then we had the sound of the police and rescue people cutting him out of the car, then the sound of the broken trees being cut down, then the sound of the telephone people cutting down the old poles and putting up new ones, so sleep was just not happening. Husband did say the man was walking and aware when he was rescued from the smashed car**, so I am glad to know he wasn't dead.

I also met with the director for the Shakespeare, and yesterday we went to a park, but I've already bored you enough this post, so I'll shut up now.

*As my husband was watching, he heard one of the cops shout to the driver, "Sir! Do not light that cigarette!" so we gather he a)will live and b)was very drunk

**which was a PT Cruiser, by the way. Charlie has a game where he shouts 'Cruiser Crunch' when he sees one, so this lends a whole new meaning to that term
