I finally met [livejournal.com profile] justleakynow in person, and we had a wonderful time. Her kids are every bit as adorable as she claims, and my Charlie had a great time playing with her 4 year old son, who is wise beyond his years. Charlie kept asking if we could 'go there tomorrow'.

So, thanks again for a great lunch! (PS [livejournal.com profile] justleakynow do you have contact info for Denise? The email she gave me for her husband didn't work, and I really want to get in contact with him about the lighting thing.)

Charlie had his first real baseball game last night, and he did pretty well. He struck out his first time at bat, but he swung well, and concidering that the first three innings every kid that was up struck out, including his friend who is normally a good hitter, he wasn't alone. When he was in the outfield, he stopped the grounder and threw it to second base, which is what he is supposed to do, and he threw well. No one was out, but he did it and I was proud. And he had fun. The game ended as a tie, 3 to 3.

And I must say I love, love, love those coaches. They are excellent teachers, and they really emphasize the 'just have fun, no negativity' type thing. Before they went out, Coach Rick (who is, by the way, georgous) made sure to tell them he only wanted to hear positive things, like 'nice try'. Very nice.

And yes I have photos and I am putting them under the cut to spare people's friends pages.

We have this smoke detector right outside our kitchen, and it is very sensitive, so any time I cook something on the stovetop, it tends to beep, unless I remember to shut the door.

Today the alarm went off while I was boiling some eggs, and Charlie calls from the the other room, "What are we having?"

Talk about a Pavlovian response.
