May. 22nd, 2006 09:19 amTwo more days until my 39th birthday. One more year and then I have to change the first line in my bio.
39. Sounds so much worse than 40, for some reason. 40 I think I can prepare for. 40's a landmark birthday - they make cocktail napkins for it. 39 just seems like such a 'last exit before toll' type of an age. I mean, for example, actresses who are my age stop getting the lead roles opposite, say, Sean Connery, and start having to play someone's mother.
And my birthday falls on a Wednesday, which makes it difficult to really celebrate. Everyone has to work, and there's really not much going on.
But that's okay. I shall face it with a cheerful and resolute spirit. On the plus side, I'm doing a bit of Shakespeare this weekend, and playing a love interest type, so that's good, and I've lost quite a bit of weight since December, which is really good. Shan't be terrified to show myself in a bathing suit at any rate. I've got good friends, both in Real Life and here, and of course there's Charlie, my little star.
He keeps asking if he can be in the play with me this weekend. I hope he doesn't wind up running up to me in the middle of the scene, because it would be hard to explain why Olivia has an eight-year old boy clinging to her leg.
