Laugh? I nearly started
Aug. 26th, 2006 09:13 amThe Husband's boss had to leave early yesterday, so no meeting. So, the shoe continues to dangle over our heads, I guess. Weird.
But, enough of that. Let us move on to irrelavant things.
As I mentioned, I've lately become obsessed with the BBC show called Life on Mars. Thank goodness for the internet, specifically LJ, because, naturally, there is a community for it, where I can get extra info and stuff, so huzzah for that.
The other day when the husband and I were watching it, he said to me that he thinks he'd settle nicely into 1973. He wouldn't miss the internet, he said, or his cell phone. He probably would settle into it, really. He's that type of person. Plus he'd probably trot off to New York and try to hang out with Lou Reed.
Me, not so much. Despite the fact I am well old enough to remember before personal computers and the world wide web and email and mobile phones and MP3 players and, heck, even cable telly, I would not be happy without my gadgets.
Sure, I'd probably be glad I could go see a young David Bowie prancing about in drag, there are too many things I'd not want to do without. Heck, even medicine has made big strides in the past 30 years.
So, my question to you lot. Would you be fine going back to the era of ugly trousers and wide lapels? 8 track tapes and avacado home furnishings?
What is the one modern convienence you think you couldn't live without? What's the one thing you could live without?
