Thanks for yesterday's comments, everyone. I'll let you know how it goes. I know this is just a routine thing. I'm more in Mama Bear mode than anything...how dare you accuse my precious little boy style of thing.

I did find out that Charlie got the whole shotgun thing from some kid in his clas called Sean. It was a song, apparently.

You know how you imagine conversations going sometimes? They never actually go that way in real life but in your head you're brilliant.

What I'd like to say is, 'So, Charlie was singing a song he knows about Macbeth would you be worried he was a regicide?'

Meanwhile my husband was a total dick yesterday, but that's a story for another post.

Thanks...

So, we went to the meeting. The Principal made Charlie sit in the reception area while she talked to us, and explained the situation. I really was sympathetic to her situation up to a point. I know they have to do this. I understand the whole 'free speech vs. Fire in a crowed theatre mentality. I understand that this policy is a reflection on the world we live in. (although I honestly don't see ithelping matters any.)

I told her how Charlie told me he'd gotten the words from a kid in his class, and just thought it was a funny song.

The Principal pointed out that had Charlie said this to some kid, and the kid's parent's found out, everyone would be in trouble.

I said, 'then are you going to speak to Sean? Because he's the one who said that to my son in the first place.'

She has to 'investigate' that, she said.

The point was, apparently, since Charlie used the teacher's name in the song, 'Charlie threatened someone.' That's a direct quote.

Yeah. That got me shaking with emotion.

I take great exception, I told her, to my son being accused of threatening anyone. Charlie said volatle words that were interpreted as threatening. He did not make a threat. There is a big difference.

He could have been saying, 'May I mambo dogface in a banana patch?' for all the context behind his words. A threat implies intent. Charlie had no intent other than trying to amuse his busmates.

I'd be less upset if Charlie had threatened to hit someone, because that I could see as being a real threat; he had been known to hit if he really loses control. Usually me.

Turning himself into a gun? Not so much.
