Oct. 12th, 2009 10:29 amThis past weekend marked the first weekend that the Collingswood Shakespeare Company had a production that I was not a part of. I did help out Friday and Saturday, and was pleased that I didn't have the sense of jealousy I thought I'd have, being there but not as an actor.
Am still a bit bitter about the whole 'Director not wanting to cast me as Portia' thing, because I really did want to do that part, but overall NOT having to deal with that director, and having the time off outweighs the bitterness.
The cast is good, and hopefully the new people won't be so put off by the director and stage manager's incompetance that they will want to work with us again in future; especially the new men-folk.
Seriously...the stories the cast have been telling about these two are the stuff of legend. It would be funny if it weren't so sad.
In other weekend news, I got, and finished, Terry Pratchett's new book, Unseen Academicals. It was, as expected, fantastic. I've re-read his books so many times, and I enjoy them every single time, but reading a story for the first time has the added bonus of not knowing what the twists are.
That said, I got this strange sense he's starting to wrap things up for the Discworld. Could just be me being paranoid, but so many minor characters had cameos in this book, and there were so many nods to past stories, it felt kind of like a good-bye.
