Feb. 14th, 2011 07:32 amSecond weekend of the play is over, and it is going rather well. I was a bit disappointed on 'my nights' for Trojan Women - when I'm playing Andromache instead of Chorus Woman 4 (Thursday night and Sunday afternoon) we had small audiences, but the people who were there really liked it, and really, in the end, that's all that mattered.
In addition, I was particularly 'on' on Sunday, if I do say so myself - and the shows were being filmed that day, so at least I had what will probably be my best performance recorded for posterity.
My parents came, and they really liked Trojan Women, which surprised me a bit - especially my dad. He thought it was fantastic. They brought their friend, and she said it was like seeing a show on Broadway. They were impressed with the whole cast. Who, by the way are fantastic. I wish you all could see it, I really do. Not just to see me emoting, but to see everyone's performance. It really is amazing.
The other nice bit was this couple who - surprisingly - were not friends or family as per usual, but people who just wanted to see the show - were extremely impressed with the production. In my bio I say how my goal for TW is to make people leaving the theatre say 'I'm not crying, I just have something in my eye.' and the woman said to me that she did, indeed, have 'something in her eye' during my scene. I'm glad to know my performance was actually effective.
One more weekend to go. I have one more performance of my 'named role' on Saturday. The nice thing about TW is when I'm a chorus woman, it is still a 'big' role. And I'm on stage the whole time, so it's kind of fun. Plus the chorus bits are so much fun to do.
Off to work. Happy Valentine's Day.
