Good ol' modern technology
Jun. 28th, 2011 07:08 amSome of my theatre group, my boyfriend, and my BFF all went to the local movie theatre to see a simulcast showing of The Globe's Merry Wives of Windsor.
It was so funny. The cast was perfect, and the staging is so amazing. I had to smile; Douglas our director always points out how Shakespeare is basically designed to have one scene starting immediately - as in, the actors from the first scene are walking out as the new actors walk in. And that's exactly how they do it at the Globe. It was really nifty to see it in the Globe.
I can't wait until July 2012 when I will (hopefully) be watching a show there live. Charlie has said several times already that he would like to see a show at the Globe. That's my boy!
We're actually doing Merry Wives in the fall. (Way too late I realised we should've brought fliers or something to give out to the people watching the show. Sigh) I'm playing Mistress Ford, so it was fun seeing the part in action. We all said to Douglas, our director 'okay, how much are we stealing from them?'
I love that this is possible. I do wish someone would do that with the Current Much Ado. They may; because I believe the show we saw was recorded live, but happened in 2010. *fingers crossed*
