As we were driving up to the winery where we were to be wed, I kept glancing out the window at the clouds that hovered ominously overhead. It had been raining off and on all morning, and, while blue sky would occasionally peep through, it did not look as though it was going to clear up before 1pm.

Of all the things one has no control over, it's the weather, and I did my best not to let it get to me. I wanted an English wedding, after all, and it looked like the weather was giving me English weather to go with it.

At 11:30, it looked as though it would stay clear, so the winery's event coordinator had them set up the chairs outside. So naturally it started to rain about 20 minutes later, forcing the ceremony site into the tent. (Which was fine. Still had the views, and as a bonus, the tent is lit with fairy lights.)

At 12:30 my entire family still had not arrived. That's when I started to panic a little. Everything else aside, they had most of the flower girls. The DJ wasn't there yet either, which wouldn't be a big deal except he had a speaker he was lending us for the ceremony music. He did show, however, as did my family, so all was well.

I was still a complete tense and worried wreck, but as soon as we walked through the lobby and through the doors, and I saw Dave standing there at the end of the short aisle, as cliche as it is, I could just feel all the worry slip away, and I was lifted by happiness.

Our minister made a joke about the English weather, proving she really 'got' us, and the ceremony went off without a hitch. (We did a very abbrivated version of the Anglican thing). Apparently the tears started flowing when we got to the family ceremony part. Dave gave a promise to Charlie to be a good stepdad, and Charlie responded by promising to support our marriage, then Dave gave Charlie the school ring he, Dave, had gotten when in high school.

Then we did this sand ceremony thing, where we poured 3 colours of sand into a jar to symbolise our lives merging together.

The flower girls were the most adorable things ever, but I will get to all that in another post, as soon as I have some photos to share.
