Jun. 13th, 2012 06:56 amOMG you guys, Charlie is almost finished his first year of high school. four years ago he was graduating from 5th grade to go into middle school, and now he's almost done 9th grade.
It's funny how time just speeds up as we get older, isn't it?
He's also leaving the school system in which he has spent his entire life. It's scary, but he's looking forward to it. I worry of course, for several reasons, not the least of which his new high school is HUGE, and I'm afraid he's going to be lost in it, and all the kids, with a few exceptions, in his old school have always liked Charlie, and have looked out for him. This new school is a complete unknown.
On the other hand, it's a school not unlike my own high school, and I truly believe sometimes a big school is better, because there are so many kids it doesn't matter which 'group' you are in. You'll find your crowd, and it doesn't matter if they aren't the 'popular' kids because there are so many people it doesn't really matter if they are a cheerleader or not. There were kids in my school who were part of the sterotypical 'popular' group, and I barely saw them.
So I hope Charlie finds his place in this school.
My last day of work is this Friday, and after Charlie finishes school on Tuesday, we're basically moving to PA.
So end of one Era, on to the next.
Scary good.
