Jul. 9th, 2012 01:50 pmSo I auditioned for a play yesterday. The play is 'Fox on the Fairway' written by Ken Somebody who wrote Lend Me a Tenor. It's an American show done in the style of the classic English farce. It has not one but 2 roles for a woman in her 30s to 40s, so that's something.
The theatre is The Village Players of Hatboro. They have an actual building and everything. That was different.
I have to say it was rather easy-peasy compared to all my recent shows. One didn't have to pay attention to thinks like rhythem and that sort of thing. No rhymes, no blank verse, no imambic pentameter, just words.
I don't hold out much hope about getting a role, just because I'm sure there are long standing members who will get first dibs, which is fine, but I think I auditioned really well, so I'm proud of myself. I got a couple of laughs, even, with my delivery of some of the lines. It's been a long time since I wasn't one of the 'insiders' in the group, so going out all on my own and auditioning was a definite stretch of the comfort zone, but on the very off chance I get a role, it is a good place to maybe make som PA friends. And I'm thinking I'll volunteer to help with the house or something, just to get my foot in the door.
Honsestly as of NOW I think I have a good shot, but they have auditions tonight, too, so I'm assuming tons of good people will be coming out tonight to do it, and I will get pushed aside.
It was fun though.
