This worthless sack of dung had plenty of advance warning that his unit was heading across the pond, yet he waited until his unit was less than two weeks from boarding the aircraft to bail out.
Had he petitioned for CO status upon his return from Iraq, or even a few months later (say, early 2004), I might have had some sympathy for him. But, of course, that wouldn't have been the grandstand play he was looking for.
However, never let it be said that I am entirely unfeeling. I'm all for keeping him Stateside for the rest of his military time. In fact, an extended tour at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas seems just the ticket.
