charliesmumWas in someone's office on a conference call when I hear my cell phone ringing. It's really loud. I'm very rude not to put it on vibrate. A few minutes later, just as the call ended, it rang again. I rushed to get it thinking, 'two calls in a row. This can't be good.'
It was the school nurse.
You see, because it was so cold, I had Charlie wear this zip up 'hoodie', I think they're called. This hoodie had some elastic string at the bottom, with a one-inch plastic ball on the end. The string, being elastic, was nice and boingy. Library class I guess wasn't very captivating. Charlie boinged the one-inch plastic ball directly onto his right eye.
Apparently his scream could be heard by the entire school.
Good news: the cornea isn't scratched.
Bad news: Charlie has a bruised and swollen right eye that is causing him lots of pain, making him very sad indeed. My poor little guy.
So lesson. Don't buy hoodies with one-inch plastic balls on boingy string.
