Company party was last night. Technically it is a 'holiday' party, but for various reasons they hold it after the new year. It was supposed to be in January, but the day of the party we had the big snowstorm, and it was cancelled, and the following week the building in which the party was to be held had no heat. So it was last night.
Every year they do 'casino night' and you get a chip for pretend $5000 and you can play Craps or Roulette or Blackjack and win (or lose) pretend money. It's fun gambling for pretend money, because there's no pressure. Plus the one dealer guy at the craps table gave me a $500 chip for getting him a sandwich. That wouldn't happen in Vegas! Anyway, at the end of the night you trade your chips in for raffle tickets, and the more pretend money you have the more tickets you get. I wound up with 6 tickets. The prizes were $100 gift card for Home Depot, a $100 gift card for Best Buy, 2 Nikon 3200 Digital Cameras, a DVD player and a 27 inch flat screen television.
I really wanted the digital camera.
I don't have luck with raffles as a general rule.
I won the digital camera.
That was pretty bloody cool, let me tell you. And the other good part is my friend who came with me (Husband had a band gig) won a DVD player, and my other friend who also works at the company (she's the one that got me in the door) got the television. So we were totally on!
Plus playing the games was fun. I'd never played Craps before. It's really quite a social game. Of course if you roll a 7 the people who'd previously been cheering for you might get a little miffed. But this was pretend gambling, so all was well.
For you Lost fans out there, the people in charge have managed to blur the line between reality and fantasy a bit more by creating a Driveshaft fan page. Must be seen to be believed.
And finally...
GO EAGLES!!!
